Research has shown a cause and effect relationship between attendance and college success. You get one "free" absence before your late arrivals/absences start to count against your grade in attendance category. After that, each absence deducts 7.5% of your grade. Three late arrivals/early departures equal one absence. No exceptions. Attendance will be taken at the beginning of each rehearsal, a record will be kept, and you will be updated at midterm regarding your progress in this area.
1 absence = 100% 2 absences = 92.5% 3 absences = 85%
|Determination of Final Grade||Students are graded on their participation and presentation of talents and skills at concerts and practices throughout the semester. Attendance and preparedness are both very essential to obtaining an acceptable grade for this course. Final Grade Breakdown: 25% Rehearsal Attendance, 25% Preparedness and Improvement, 50% Performances. Absence from a required performance, without prior notification and arrangements, will result in a failing Performance grade.|
