Course Description A survey of elementary inorganic, organic chemistry and gas laws for allied science.
Course Prerequisites Basic skill competency in reading, writing, and math required.
Required Textbooks "Chemistry: An introduction to General, Organic, and Biological Chemistry", 10th Ed. by Timberlake. Published by Pearson

Lab: A teacher made laboratory manual will be given to each student.

Learning Objectives To illustrate chemical principles and become familiar with laboratory techniques.

Discussion Topics Topics that relate to General Chemistry
Attendance Policy Research has shown a cause and effect relationship between attendance and college success. A student with three absences may be dropped from class.
Determination of Final Grade Lecture: Scores from lecture will comprise 75% of course grade. There will be 3 Major Exams and a Final during the semester. Each unit will have a quiz that counts 10 points of the Major Exam grade. Extra credit over each unit will be offered. The extra credit can replace the lowest Major Exam grade, not the Final.

Lab: Scores from lab will comprise 25% of course grade. There will be 3 Lab Quizzes that count 75% of lab average and the lab write-ups will count 25% of lab average.

 Facility  Policies

        No food, drinks, or tobacco products are allowed in the classroom.

        Only students enrolled in the course are allowed in the classroom.

        Cell phones and/or pagers are allowed ONLY on vibrate mode. Leaving the classroom to answer a page or phone call may constitute an absence or a tardy.
