|Course Description||Intermediate Algebra is the study of equations and inequalities, factoring, rational expressions and equations, absolute value equations and inequalities, radical expressions and equations, and quadratic equations.|
|Course Prerequisites||Direct placement through the COMPASS standardized test, or a passing grade of C or better in Introductory Algebra|
|Required Textbooks||Beginning & Intermedaite Algebra, Elayn Martin-gay, 4th Edition, Pearson.|
*Students will learn to solve linear, absolute value, fractional, quadratic and radical equations.
*Students will learn to solve and graph linear, absolute value and systems of inequalities.
*Students will learn to add, subtract, multiply, divide and simplify rational expressions.
*Students will learn to solve related application problems.
All assignments managed by the MyMathLabs online learning system.
HOMEWORK: Each section of the textbook covered in lecture has a corresponding homework assignment
CHAPTER TESTING: each chapter covered in class lecture will have a corresponding chapter test
FINAL EXAM: cummulative final exam scheduled as per college schedule

|Attendance Policy||Research has shown a cause and effect relationship between attendance and college success. Each student is allowed six absences for any purpose. Each additional 75-minute absence will reduce the end of course letter grade by one letter grade. Late arrivals and/or Early departures will count toward the absence quota. Students that are not in compliance with these attendance standards will be dropped from this class.|
|Determination of Final Grade||Chapter Homework-25%, Chapter Test-50%, Final Exam-25%. * Students that are co-enrolled in LC 102/Math Lab may have their end of course homework average adjusted by any incomplete mlab requirements*|
