|Course Description||A course that stresses the analytical and critical thinking skills associated with successful college reading.|
|Course Prerequisites||Students are allowed to register and remain in this course through direct placement through COMPASS, THEA, or other standardized testing.|
|Required Textbooks||A subscription to MYLITERATURELABSPLUS:BACKPACK LITERATURE: AN INTRODUCTION TO FICTION, POETRY, DRAMA, AND WRITING, 3rd EDITION. KENNEDY|
|Learning Objectives||Students will integrate selected readings into college level compostitions.|
• Integrate skills from selected readings from the text to writing exercises - Due each Friday of the semester.
• Weekly Lab assignments
• Midterm – TBA
• Test/quizzes as deemed necessary by instructor
|Discussion Topics||Selected readings from the textbook and outside resourses.|
- Students are allowed a maximum of six absences. Each subsequent absence after the allotted maximum limit will drop the end-of-course average by one letter grade. Frequent late arrivals and/or early departures will count as absences.
- - Students who earn a “C” or better will advance to the next level. If a “D” or “F” is received the course must be repeated.
