Course Title  Introductory Algebra  
Course Description  Introductory Algebra is the study of basic algebra concepts, covering real numbers, variable expressions, first degree equations and inequalities, linear functions and inequalities, systems of equations, polynomial operations, and factoring.  
Course Prerequisites  Passing Math 0312 with a C or better or direct placement through standardized testing  
Required Textbooks  Beginning & Intermediate Algebra, Elayn MartinGay, 4th Edition, Pearson  
Learning Objectives 
*Students will learn to find the slopes, intercepts, equations and graphs of lines *Students will learn to solve systems of equations in two and three variables by substitution, addition and determinants *Students will learn and apply the laws of exponents *Students will learn to add, subtract, multiply, divide and factor polynomials *Students will solve related application problems. 

Major Assignments 
All assignments managed by the MyLabsPlus online learning system. HOMEWORK: Each section of the textbook covered in class lecture has a corresponding homework assignment. CHAPTER TESTING: Each chapter covered in class lecture has a corresponding Chapter Test. FINAL EXAM: The cummulative final exam is given per College schedule.

Attendance Policy  Research has shown a cause and effect relationship between attendance and college success. A student is allowed six(6) MWF or four(4) TR or MW absences (300 minutes) for any purpose. Each additional 75 minutes absent will reduce your final average by one full letter grade. Late arrivals and early departures will have these missed class minutes deducted from the 300 minute total. Students that are not in compliance with these attendance standards may be dropped from the class.  
Determination of Final Grade 
*Chapter Homework  25% Chapter Testing  50% Final Exam  25% *Students enrolled in a corequisite lab will receive 1/2 of the Chapter Homework average based on the number of lab hours completed. These students must complete the minimum number of hours required or they cannot pass the course.*
