Course Description Survey of United States history from the post-reconstruction period to the present.
Course Prerequisites HIST - 1301
Required Textbooks America: A Narrative History. Volume 2. (Brief), 8th ed. Norton.

The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed America (New York: Vintage, 2003).

Learning Objectives Students will be able to:

Understand Reconstruction and the rebuilding of the nation.

Analyze the rise of big business and labor in the United States.

Understand the influence of the Great War on future American economic and political policies.

Have a thorough understanding of the causes of the Second World War its effects.

Understand the evolution of society during the late twentieth century.

Major Assignments Three (3) Exams

Three (3) Quizzes

One (1) Book Report over The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Maddness at the Fair that Changed America.

Class participation is required.

Attendance Policy Research has shown a cause and effect relationship between attendance and college success. Attendance is taken at each class meeting. Regular attendance will benefit students and borderline grades.

Academic dishonesty in any form will not be tolerated.  Please consult the student handbook for consequences of academic dishonesty.  These policies will be strictly enforced.

 

 Facility  Policies

        No food, drinks, or tobacco products are allowed in the classroom.

        Only students enrolled in the course are allowed in the classroom.

        Cell phones and/or pagers are allowed ONLY on vibrate mode. Leaving the classroom to answer a page or phone call may constitute an absence or a tardy.
