Albright donation honors Port Arthur's Bill Picton
Morris Albright, chairman of the Port Arthur Higher Education Foundation board, and his wife, Sarah, have donated $50,000 to the Foundation in honor of Bill Picton. Picton is Sarah’s brother and before his death a long-time Port Arthur businessman. A native of Port Arthur, Picton graduated from Lamar Tech in diesel engineering. He later established Gulf Copper Manufacturing Corporation, located on Houston Avenue in Port Arthur. The contribution will be designated for scholarships for technical education students at Lamar State College Port Arthur. The college is currently in the process of constructing the Sheila McCarthy Umphrey Industrial Technology Center, which will house the Process Technology, Instrumentation Technology, Computer Drafting and Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning programs.
