Robert W. Gillam
Assistant Professor of Commerical Music
Robert Gillam holds a Bachelor's degree in Music Theory and Composition from Azusa Pacific University and a Master's degree in Commercial Music from California State University Los Angeles. He also holds a certificate in film scoring from the highly acclaimed UCLA Extension program in Los Angeles. As a composer, Gillam has written music for several independent films and his concert music has been performed in the U.S. and in Europe. As a performer, he has played in groups across Southern California and Arizona.
Professor Gillam is also active as an educator, having taught music theory and musicianship classes at Azusa Pacific University, music technology classes at California State University, Los Angeles, and orchestration at the University of Arizona. As part of the Commercial Music Department he teaches Class Piano, Music Fundamentals, American Pop Music History, Ensembles and Applied Commercial Piano. Gillam is also a doctoral candidate in Music Composition from the University of Arizona.
