I love Janis Joplin. I think she is one of the best singers alive. I collect anything I can find on her. I even have a first print from 1969 of a photo of her.

Hi! I have been out of school for 10 years now. Am trying to prepare myself to start next spring. I am terrified. Also, I know what I want to do (work in law firm), but am unsure which course I need to take. There is the paralegal certificate program a t LUIT, then a legal assistant degree at LUPA, and also a legal secretary degree and a legal office assistant certificate program. I am so confused. Any help out there?

I began my college education at Lamar in Port Arthur at the age of 28. I was working full time, with the responsibilities of a household and a father. The faculty and staff at LUPA were incredible to me. Especially Dr. Huvall, whom I will never for get. Thank you all very much for offering the flexibility in course schedules to help me earn my degree.

I attend Lamar PA, to further my education, and to get a degree in computers. So that I can get a great job doing things I like to do, which is computers, I have learned me things at LUPA. Even some hacking tips I never knew thanks to the staff at LUPA. Why pay for it when you can get it for phree. Hack the Planet

I graduated from the Lamar University System with a degree in real estate (as a major). During that time I attended both the main campus and Port Arthur campus. I really enjoyed my classes at the Port Arthur campus. I knew everyone on both faculty & staff. I have wonderful memories of LU-PA which continue to this day. I will never for get Dr. Sam Monroe who still continues to gives his all to both students and faculty. Port Arthur is very luck to have Sam. Though I love the LUPA campus, I will a lways cherish the opportunities that LUPA gave to me. I graduated from Lamar University in 1981, and moved to Houston in 1982. I still reside in Houston and love it. However, I find Houston universities and colleges quite cold when compared to LUPA & L U-main campus. As an alumni member of LU system, I say keep up the good work LUPA. I would recommend any person in the greater golden triangle area to attend LUPA and the main campus.

Currently I am attending Univ. of Missouri-Columbia but my little sister is attending LUPA and my mother is also taking some classes there. I just want to say that LUPA offers an opportunity to Port Arthur that a lot of the younger people would never consider. My sister, Sheketha, is doing very well there and I appreciate the academic opportunity that she is being given. PA is a town where people need to take advantage of what it is that they are given - a chance to suceed and gain an edge in life. Keep up the good work Sis, Mom and Cousins. Learning never stops but it always needs a little push to get started.

I would like to comment on the people downing Port Arthur and LUPA. It's because people like you that keep dogging us out that people don't want to come to Port Arthur. Many of my friends go to LUPA and live in the city and they admire the staff and tell me it's a great place to go to school. I admit PA is not for everybody. But like the saying goes. "If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen". And Port Arthur is one "kitchen" I'm proud to be in.

was interested in classes available in the evening session found little info as to what is offered and really would like to know about the Orange campus, evenings also, is there anyway to get some of the paper work (forms) done via internet, making registration a breeze, kind of like walk up, pickup package pay and your enrolled. seems easy to me, but the internet is new device and options are not created in day!

Dear: Mr. David Satcher I'am very sorry to hear about your experience in PA and at Lamar university Beaumont. I assure you that PA has made the commitment to the investment and future of its citizens. Each year PA has a wonderful celebration called the Mardi Gras. The citizens of Port Arthur last year passed a sales tax increase for the economic development of Port Arthur. As a former student of Lamar University-Port Arthur and Lamar University-Beaumont I too share some of your concerns on the Lamar Beaumont campus. Please let me assure you that (LU-PA) Lamar University-Port Arthur is a growing campus and student body. Most of all LU-PA cares about the students and has a user friendly campus. I have seen this to be true, as a former Student Government Association President. My first care is for the student body and making the students voice on campus be heard. Hi! I have a rather difficult( i think ) question for any who's reading this: The 11th of april 1926 there was an accident in the harbour of Port Arthur and a steamship named " Gulf of ???" was in this. The reason for my question is that my wife's grand-grand father was killed due to this accident. He's name was Johan Wilhelm Dahl and was born in april 1884.
