E-Book Collections For Students, Faculty, and Staff

  • eBook Collection - EBSCO - More than 40,000 e-books are available for browsing, searching, and virtual check out. The collection includes titles under the following categories: arts and architecture, biographies & memoirs, business & economics, computer science, education, engineering & technology, fiction, health & medicine, history, literature & criticism, mathematics, psychology, reference, and sciences. Search by title, author, keyword, language, publisher, publication date, or ISBN number. These e-books can be read online or “checked out” for viewing on most mobile devices and e-readers.
  • Ebook Central - ProQuest - Ebook Central is designed with mobile in mind. Access the site from your tablet or phone, and download ebooks for offline reading. Ebook Central delivers, with breadth and depth of ebooks from scholarly sources, including University Presses and other top publishers.

Free E-Book Collection Sites

  • Bibliomania - Read thousands of free e-books, poems, articles, short stories, and plays.
  • BookBooN - On BookBooN.com you can download free e-books for students and travelers in PDF format. All books can be downloaded and viewed either online or on iPhone/iPad, Kindle, Sony Reader, or Android-supported devices. These e-books are legal and written exclusively for BookBooN.
  • Bookyards - On this site, the user can conduct a search by author’s last name, by title, by keyword, or by category. Once a title appears, the user can download a PDF onto a computer or a(n) iPhone/iPad, Kindle, or Android-supported device.
  • Epubbooks.com - From this site, e-books can be downloaded onto an iPhone/iPad or Android-supported device. However, this site is not designed for online viewing, nor can these files be viewed with Kindle.
  • Feedbooks - There are two links for free e-books. One is Free Public Domain Books, and the other is Free Original Books. Books can be read online in PDF, or the user may download onto a(n) iPhone/iPad, Kindle, or Android-supported device.
  • FreeComputerBooks - This site consists of free online Computer Programming, Mathematics, and Technical books, as well as lecture notes and tutorials. It is very well categorized by topics, with 12 top-level categories and over 150 sub-categories. The e-books can be read online only.
  • The Free Library - Compiles an immense amount of published material – journals, magazines, blog postings, and classic literary texts.
  • Google Books - This source of e-books is limited to online versions. If it’s in the public domain, then a PDF copy may be downloaded onto a PC or laptop.
  • The Internet Archive - Offers access to digital-born and scanned print texts.
  • LibriVox - LibriVox provides free audiobooks from the public domain. There are several options for listening. The first step is to get the mp3 or ogg files into your own computer. Users can listen to files on a PC or laptop, a Kindle, an iPhone/iPad, or on an Android-supported device.
  • The Online Books Page - An easily navigable central access point for over 1 million "free books on the Web."
  • OnlineProgrammingBooks - This site contains details about free online books related to Information Technology, Computer Science, the Internet, Business, Marketing, Mathematics, Physics, and Science. These e-books can be downloaded and viewed online or onto a(n) iPhone/iPad, Kindle, or Android-supported device.
  • Open Library - A division of Internet Archive, Open Library provides over 1 million free e-book titles that can be viewed online as digitized book images as HTML or PDF. The experience is similar to reading an actual book. E-books can also be downloaded onto a(n) iPhone/iPad, Kindle, or Android-supported device. Book narrations are available through the use of an audio button.
  • Project Gutenberg - Project Gutenberg is the first and largest single collection of free electronic books allowing downloads of over 46,400 free ebooks to read on your PC or laptop, iPad, Kindle, iPhone, Android-supported device. Over 100,000 free books are available through Project Gutenberg's partners, affiliates and resources. No registration fee is required. Books are free in the United States because their copyright has expired.
  • ReadCentral.com - This site offers more than 5,000 free e-books (and several thousand quotes & poems) for online viewing only. Downloading onto e-readers is not possible through this site.
