Tutoring Services
Tutoring is available for qualifying students who, based on the functional limitations of a disability, request that service. Tutoring can be requested at the beginning of a semester or during the semester when the student determines he/she will benefit from tutoring. All students requesting tutoring services through the ODS must complete the request form available from the ODS Coordinator in Room 231 of the MMED building.
Tutoring is also available in the Student Success Center (SSC) and through services offered by Region V.
Students receiving tutoring services agree to the following responsibilities:
- Arriving on time for all tutoring sessions and notifying the ODS as soon as possible if you will be late;
- Notifying the ODS promptly (no less than 2 hours before your scheduled tutoring appointment) if you are unable to attend tutoring;
- Providing a reliable way to be contacted (phone and email);
- Communicating with the tutor during the sessions if you do not understand or need further explanations on a concept or topic;
- Turning off or silencing your cell phone during the tutoring session;
- Additional tutoring sessions beyond the scheduled sessions provided by LSCPA’s Office for Disability Services should not be arranged before obtaining permission from the ODS Coordinator or the Assistive Technology Assistant;
- Contacting the ODS if any problems arise concerning the additional assistance you are receiving; and
- Keeping up with class assignments and turning in all assignments by the due dates.
Tutoring is a service that provides additional instruction, but is not a replacement for studying or completing assignments. The student is responsible for his/her success in all courses and in reaching his/her educational goals.
