6 PM UPDATE: LSCPA Port Arthur campus closed Thursday, April 11

6 PM UPDATE: Lamar State College Port Arthur will be closed on Thursday, April 11, as storm-related repairs continue on its Port Arthur campus.

Damage to the electrical grid that serves LSCPA's Port Arthur campus was more extensive than originally estimated, forcing the local campus to close on Thursday, April 11. 

Plans are for the campus to reopen Friday, April 12, at 8 a.m. for its regular schedule of classes and student services.

Any additional information will be distributed via campus email, LSCPA social media accounts, and text messaging.

3:45 PM MESSAGE: Officials at Lamar State College Port Arthur are still assessing storm damage at the Port Arthur campus. There are several buildings on campus still without power.

Administrators are discussing options for a return to classes this week. A decision will be made later today.
