Lamar State College Port Arthur CAREs for all of its students and wants to assist every student during this time of continued uncertainty and economic unrest. For students enrolling in courses during the Summer 2021 and Fall 2021 semesters, we want to continue providing LSCPA students with the hope of a productive and secure future. As such, we are offering students the opportunity to receive one free course this summer and up to two free courses this fall for ALL students!
**This offer will be extended until all allotted funds for scholarships has been disbursed, so register for the Summer 2021 and Fall 2021 semesters early! In addition, the cost of tuition and fees for classes for Fall 2021 is subject to change without notice due to changes by the Texas Legislature. This could impact your savings.**

Students who enroll in one or more courses Summer 2021
- The tuition and fees for one 3-credit hour course (up to $416 for non-dual credit students and $150 for dual credit students) in the Summer 2021 semester will be paid for every student who registers and pays for one course at the posted tuition and fees rate.

Students who enroll in one course Fall 2021
- Buy One, Get One FREE: The tuition and fees for one additional 3-credit hour course (up to $416 for non-dual credit students and $150 for dual credit students) in the Fall 2021 semester will be FREE for every student who registers and pays for one course at the posted tuition and fees rate.
Students who enroll in two or more courses Fall 2021
- Buy Two, Get Two FREE: The tuition and fees for two additional 3-hour courses (up to $866 for non-dual credit students and $300 for dual credit students) in the Fall 2021 semester will be paid for every student who registers and pays for two courses at the posted tuition and fees rate.
NOTE: In order to get as much financial assistance as possible beyond the BOGO offer, students are strongly encouraged to complete and submit the 2020/2021 Free Application for Federal Student Aid FAFSA (for summer registration) and the 2021/2022 Free Application for Federal Student Aid FAFSA (for fall registration). When completing the FAFSA, students should use LSCPA’s school code 016666. ALSO, the BOGO funds will be applied after each semester's census date with any resulting refund taking place after that date.
Steps to apply and register for classes:
- NEW STUDENTS: Complete and submit the Admissions Application (www.applytexas.org) for the Summer of 2021 (for summer registration) or Fall 2021 (for fall registration)
- NEW and RETURNING STUDENTS: Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid FAFSA Use LSCPA’s school code 016666. To apply for federal aid for summer classes, submit the 2020/2021 FAFSA. To apply for federal aid for fall classes, submit the 2021/2022 FAFSA.
- NEW AND RETURNING STUDENTS: Register for classes at LSCPA
- New students should sign up to attend New Student Orientation (https://bit.ly/3vukh4F) OR must meet with an advisor in person, virtually, or by phone to register.
- Continuing students can register directly through their self-service account.

Yes. Students who register and pay for one course at LSCPA become eligible for a FREE 3-credit hour course as long as funds are available.
As long as funds are available, LSCPA will offer a maximum of ONE 3-credit hour (up to $399) FREE course for students who enroll and pay for one course in any combination of summer sessions. Students can enroll in summer courses and receive the Buy One, Get One (up to) 3-credit hour in any of the following combinations:
- one course during Summer One and one 3-credit hour course during Summer Two (the Summer Two course will be FREE);
- two courses during Summer One (one of the courses will be FREE);
- two courses during Summer Two (one of the courses will be FREE);
- one course during the full Summer semester and one course during either short Semester (if one is for Summer Two, the Summer Two course will be FREE);
- two courses during the full Summer semester.
Yes, students are able to enroll in more than two 3-credit hour courses during the summer, according to LSCPA registration guidelines. However, as long as funds are available, LSCPA will provide no more than one FREE course over the span of the summer semester (Summer One, Summer Two, Full Summer).
In Financial Aid completion, Texas ranks a distant 31, with a completion rate of 55.2 percent among the 50 states. LSCPA wants to ensure that every eligible Texan uses the free resources available from federal aid. Regardless of whether or not you qualify for Financial Aid funds, LSCPA’s Buy One, Get One FREE opportunity will be extended to all students. However, those who complete and submit the 2020/2021 (Summer one and Full summer), 2021/2022 FAFSA (Summer two), and use LSCPA’s school FAFSA code of 016666 may be eligible to receive additional funding that can be applied to the cost of attending classes at LSCPA.
Through June 30, 2021, you will need to complete the 2020/2021 FAFSA. After July 1, 2021, you will need to complete the 2021/2022 FAFSA.
You will need to add Lamar State College Port Arthur to your record. While completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), you must list at least one college to receive your information. To add colleges after you have already submitted your FAFSA, click the Login button on the home page and log into FAFSA on the Web. Click Make FAFSA Corrections, and then navigate to the “School Selection” page. To search for a college that you want to receive your information, select the state in which the college is located, then enter the city and/or school name, and click Search. We will search our database and display your results in order by the best match. You can re-sort the list in alphabetical order by School Name. From the Search Results, you can select up to ten colleges to add to your list of Selected Schools. You can select an individual college, or you can press the Ctrl button on your keyboard and select multiple colleges. After you have selected the college(s), click the ADD>> button to add the college(s) to your list of Selected Schools. LSCPA’s school code is 016666.
No, LSCPA will pay for the free course/courses PRIOR to any aid or scholarship funds that you are awarded as long as funds are available. If you are normally refunded for either of these, then your refund should be more than usual.
High school students from districts that are partnering with LSCPA can participate in the Buy One, Get One FREE opportunity as long as funds are available. Enrollment must be approved and coordinated with the dual credit student’s district. Contact the LSCPA Director of Dual Credit Programs, Hilda Billups, at 409-984-6102 or billupshm@lamarpa.edu for steps on how to register and participate in this opportunity during the Summer and Fall 2021 semesters.
When students enroll in courses that are more than 3-credit hours, the 3-credit hour course will be free and the student will be expected to pay for the 4 (or more)-credit hour course as long as funds are available.
Students who drop one of their courses before the semester begins (regardless of how many credit hours the course is) will be considered as withdrawing from their FREE course and will not be refunded for the course.
Students who drop two courses before the semester begins will be refunded the amount of the course that they paid for in accordance with LSCPA’s refund policy and process.
Yes, you will qualify for the Buy One Get One opportunity as long as funds are available. Students will need to register for both 8-week terms the same time.
Fees that are added to a course (i.e. lab, internet, etc.) are excluded from the BOGO calculation.
Students who drop one or two of their courses before the semester begins (regardless of how many credit hours the course is) will be considered as withdrawing from their FREE course(s) and will not be refunded for the course(s).
Students who drop more than two courses before the semester begins will be considered as withdrawing from their FREE courses first. Additional courses that are dropped will be refunded the amount of the course that they paid for in accordance with LSCPA’s refund policy and process.
