Athletics, Distance Learning fees waived for Summer semesters
Lamar State College Port Arthur just became even more affordable for those seeking a college education in Southeast Texas.
Both the Athletics Fee and Distance Learning Fee have been waived for the Summer 2020 semesters at LSCPA. With this reduction in fees, a three-hour course this summer drops nearly $70 from $466.07 to $399.
The Summer I and Summer III semesters, which start June 1 and run through July 6, will be online. A decision regarding the online vs. face-to-face status of the July 7 to August 11 Summer II semester is still under consideration.
“Recently, LSCPA’s tuition dropped 29 percent after a legislative appropriation. Now, with these two fees waived, Lamar State College Port Arthur is the most affordable option for students in Southeast Texas,” LSCPA President Dr. Betty Reynard. “We are all together in this fight against COVID-19, so we are proud to help lower costs however we can. Ultimately, the most important thing is for our students to continue pursuing their goals of earning a degree or certificate.”
Students who are currently enrolled at other colleges or four-year universities can also take advantage of this summer reduction. Core curriculum classes taken at LSCPA transfer to four-year universities, helping students maintain their progress toward a degree in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic.
LSCPA students who were registered during the Spring 2020 semester are also eligible to apply for the LSCPA CARES emergency grant, a $500,000 federal fund that was provided to help those impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic.
