UPDATE: Campus resumes normal operations Wednesday, Sept. 15

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 14 UPDATE: The campus will reopen and classes will resume as usual on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 after Tropical Storm Nicholas passed through the area.

If you were affected by Tropical Storm Nicholas and are unable to return to campus on Wednesday, September 15, contact your immediate supervisor or your instructors.

As always, our first concern is your safety. Take the necessary precautions to keep yourself safe in the aftermath of this storm.

Tropical Storm Nicholas is expected to make landfall along the middle Texas coast this evening as a strong tropical storm. If the path of Tropical Storm Nicholas remains the same, we are expecting heavy rain and wind gusts in Southeast Texas.

With the latest update to the trajectory of Tropical Storm Nicholas, officials at Lamar State College Port Arthur have decided to close the campus on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. The campus will reopen on Wednesday morning for regularly-scheduled classes.

You can find additional LSCPA updates regarding Tropical Storm Nicholas online at the College’s website (, on our social media presence on Facebook and Twitter, and through your Lamarpa email.
