    Cash in on contractors ready to hire

    Learn to Earn. Immediately. Contractors pledge to hire every graduate!
     
    Lamar State College Port Arthur is offering 3- and 4-week certification courses in 2020 to plug students into the billions of dollars currently being invested in industrial construction projects in the Port Arthur area.
     
    Local companies say they will hire each graduate of these newly set daytime courses for jobs paying up to $40,000 per year.
     

    • NCCER Scaffolding Level 1 Certification
    • CDL Class B Dump Truck License
    • CDL Class B Coach Bus Driver License
     
    Classes will begin Jan. 6 and each month through 2020.
     
    The scaffolding class is 3 weeks in length and will meet at the Associated Builders & Contractors of Southeast Texas campus at 2700 N. Twin City Highway, Nederland, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
     
    Beginning pay ranges from $14-$17 per hour. More information on Scaffolding.
     
    The driving classes are taught on the Lamar State College Port Arthur campus at 1500 Procter Street, Port Arthur. They are 4 weeks in length and will meet from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

    Students may apply for classes beginning any month of 2020, but spaces in the classes are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
