  • LSCPA plans to resume face-to-face instruction this fall

    The Texas State University System’s seven member institutions, including Lamar State College Port Arthur, have begun plans to resume face-to-face instruction this fall, while implementing enhanced health and safety measures to minimize the spread of COVID-19. Institution leaders are working to develop campus-specific operational plans based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and other public health agencies. Read More

  • Sempra donation bolsters LSCPA Food Pantry

    Sempra LNG, through its Foundation’s COVID Nonprofit Hardship Fund, has decided that no student should go hungry. The Sempra Energy Foundation has donated $20,000 to the Port Arthur Higher Education Foundation which, in turn, will provide $6,000 to the Lamar State College Port Arthur Food Bank. LSCPA administrators are currently determining the best way to assist students using the additional $14,000 from the Sempra contribution. Read More

  • $1M COVID-19 federal funding benefits LSCPA students

    In what is the first wave of federal funding to help offset COVID-19 financial losses, more than $1 million has been dedicated to Lamar State College Port Arthur through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund authorized by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act. Read More

  • LSCPA donates much-needed medical supplies

    In the grand scheme of the COVID-19 global pandemic, small gestures truly do make a big difference. Lamar State College Port Arthur donated medical supplies from its Allied Health Program to CHRISTUS Southeast Texas St. Elizabeth Hospital on Wednesday, including 200 of the highly-sought-after N95 respiratory masks. The idea for the supply donation was that of Allied Health Director Shirley MacNeill and her program coordinators. Read More

  • College cancels classes March 16-20 as coronavirus precaution

    In light of recent developments regarding COVID-19, Lamar State College Port Arthur has opted to take a proactive effort to safeguard its students by canceling classes scheduled for March 16-20. Dual enrollment students and those taking classes through the Woodrow Wilson Early College High School will attend classes as planned.

    The U.S. Census Bureau is hiring temporary workers for the 2020 Census. College students are highly encouraged to apply. Texas students will contribute to their communities as Census takers and will benefit personally by gaining public service experience while earning income. Read More
