Ms. Kim Guillory is a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant and a Certified Medical Administrative Assistant. Ms. Guillory has been a Medical Assistant since 2010 and taught college level Allied Health courses since 2013.

What will students learn?

The Certified Clinical Medical Assistant program is designed to provide a knowledge of administrative skills for medical offices, professionalism, medical law and ethics, insurance verification, clinical and laboratory procedures, patient triage, EKG’s, injections, blood collections, and CPR. The Certified Clinical Medical Assistant program includes in-person and hybrid instruction.

Is the Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination required for this course?

No, because of the length of the course, the Texas Department of State Health Services does not require that students provide proof of a bacterial meningitis vaccination.

How many days per week?

Classes meet weekly Monday thru Friday from 9:00am to 2:30pm.

What is the length of this class?

This class is 2 sessions at 10-weeks long each, for a total of 550 contact hours of training.

This class is 2 sessions at 10-weeks long each, for a total of 550 contact hours of training.

How much does the class cost?

Tuition for the class is $4,000, billed at $2,000 per session.

Is student funding available for this class?

There is funding assistance available from Texas Workforce and Region 5 for those students that qualify.

What supplies will I need?

All training supplies will be provided.

Prerequisites

  1. Proof of age. Students must be 18 years old or older.
  2. High School Diploma or GED.

Graduation Requirements

Students must maintain a passing grade in the course and must successfully demonstrate CCMA techniques and procedures.

Upon completion of CCMA training at Lamar State College Port Arthur, students will be eligible to sit for an accreditation examination with the National Healthcareer Association.
