Commercial Drivers License Class A-Jasper Driving Academy

Trucking is a high-demand industry that offers rock-solid wages and job security. Lamar State College - Port Arthur's Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A training course can put you on the fast track to your license.

Funding is available for those who qualify through Workforce Deep East Texas and the Jasper Economic Development Corporation.


Classroom study will be held in Classroom Number 2 at the Jasper ISD Alternative School Building located at 890 E. Houston Street in Jasper Texas.

Driving training will be held in the parking lot of the former J. H. Rowe Intermediate School located at 750 East Gibson Street. The driving area is entered from Scott Street just to the west of the school.


Classes will meet daily Monday through Thursday from 4 pm to 9 pm.

  • 100% hands-on training! No simulators! You will train with qualified drivers who will draw on years of experience to teach you all you need to know about the driving industry.
  • You will drive the actual vehicles used in the field, including dump trucks to school buses and an 18-wheeler.
  • Basic knowledge and driving skills to pass the Texas Commercial Driver's License exam.
  • Rules of the road and smart driving strategies.
  • How to connect with companies that are hiring truck drivers.


  • We provide a diverse mix of classroom and videos, discussion sessions, driving demos and -- most important -- on the road, hands-on driving experiences.
  • You'll train on vehicles used in the field.


  • Be 18 years of age.
  • Successfully complete a Department of Transportation (DOT) Physical Examination.
  • Pass a Department of Transportation Drug Screen.
  • Have a clean 3-year driving record.
  • Read and speak the English language to converse with the general public and make entries on reports and records.
