The Port Arthur Industrial Group has established a $25,000 endowed scholarship at Lamar State College Port Arthur.

The gift was presented Sept. 8 by Gary Parsley, PAIG chair and Port Arthur plant manager of Chevron Phillips. Accepting on behalf of the college were President Dr. Betty Reynard; Dr. Melissa Armentor, dean of educational programs; and Dr. Ben Stafford, vice president for workforce training and continuing education.

The scholarship, administered through the Lamar State College Port Arthur Foundation, will provide ongoing support for students pursuing higher education at the college.

The contribution marks PAIG’s 25th anniversary and highlights the organization’s commitment to education, workforce development and community success.

“We are honored that PAIG has chosen to commemorate this milestone by investing in our students,” Reynard said. “This endowed scholarship will create opportunities for generations of Seahawks, helping them achieve their academic and career goals.”

College officials said the scholarship strengthens the longstanding partnership between Lamar State College Port Arthur and local industry. The support ensures students have access to the resources needed to prepare for careers while contributing to the economic growth of Southeast Texas.
