Renewable Energy
Pending SACSCOC Approval
The Associate of Applied Science Degree in Renewable Energy will offer courses preparing students to work as hydrogen plant operator or process plant operator for local industry. The program is designed to prepare students for careers in the production of hydrogen, carbon monoxide, and ammonia, with a specialized focus on carbon capture technologies. The curriculum integrates general education, process technology, LNG manufacturing, and hydrogen-specific courses to meet the growing workforce demand in energy and chemical manufacturing sectors. Graduates will be equipped with the technical skills, safety knowledge, and operational competencies required for entry-level positions in industrial facilities.
The program provides hands-on training in the classroom, laboratory, and through internships.
Program Outcomes
- Demonstrate understanding of hydrogen, ammonia, and CO production processes.
- Apply comprehensive safety knowledge including OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, and hydrogen-specific hazard mitigation.
- Operate and troubleshoot industrial equipment and instrumentation.
- Analyze water and steam chemistry for process optimization.
- Implement carbon capture technologies in industrial settings.
