The Financial Aid Process

Financial Aid is neither automatic nor guaranteed.  The process involves the student, the parent, the college, and the US Department of Education.

  1. Students must apply for financial aid every academic year (Fall, Spring, Summer) by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Texas Application for State Financial Aid (if applicable).
    • The US Department of Education determines your Estimated Family Contribution and sends your FAFSA to the schools of your choice.
    • The college reviews your application for basic and institutional eligibility requirements, performs verification (when necessary), and awards the student.
  2. The student will need to review the award and:
    • Accept/Decline Loans.
    • Collect your Aid.
    • Pay for School.
    • Receive Refund Monies.
  3. Student must maintain Financial Aid eligibility from year to year.
    • Go to class.
    • Make good grades.
