Homecoming Court Elections

Lamar State College Port Arthur is excited to celebrate this year’s homecoming week with the return of a Homecoming Court.

The Homecoming Court will be selected via an online ballot and selected by current students, faculty, and staff.

  • Applications available Thursday, January 20, 2022 and close Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 11:59:59 PM.
  • Voting begins January 31, 2022 and will end on February 2, 2022 at 11:59:59 PM.

Qualifications to Run

Homecoming Prince and Princess Qualifications to Run:

  • Any full-time student may apply to run

Homecoming King and Queen Qualifications to Run:

  • Full-time student with at least 12 completed semester hours
  • 2.5 Grade Point Average
 
  • That you are of “...good moral character as demonstrated by [your] standing in the community and on campus.”  This is determined through a felony records check, verification that you have no outstanding debt to the College, and verification that you are not currently on Disciplinary Probation with the College.

Applications are due to the Director of Student Activities by 11:59:59 on Tuesday, January 25, 2022. Candidates will be contacted by the Director of Student Activities to confirm their application and eligibility.

Election Rules

  • Campaigning will not be hosted on campus due to COVID 19.
  • Candidates must email the Director of Student Activities the following upon their application submission:
    • Interests/Student Involvement/Student Organizations
    • Reason for Running.
    • Headshot. If you do not have a headshot please have a photo taken of yourself with a light colored wall from shoulders up. 
  • Candidate profiles will be posted on the Lamar State College Port Arthur website.
  • Voting will take place online. Only current students with a valid college email address will have access to voting. 
  • All candidates are required to attend the Homecoming Ball on Friday, February 4th from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Carl Parker Banquet Room
  • All Homecoming King and Queen finalist (announced at the Homecoming Ball) are required to attend the Homecoming basketball game on Saturday, February 5th at 4 PM at the Carl Parker.
  • All candidates must be dressed in semi-formal/formal attire for required events.

Election Dates, Spring 2022

January 31, 2022-February 2, 2022:

  • Applications must be submitted online at the link in the bullet above.
  • See Election Rules #2 above. Must be completed with application. 
  • Candidates applications will be verified by the Student Activities Director. The director will contact the candidate once the application is approved or denied. 

January 31st: Candidate campaign page will be launched on the school's website. 

January 31st through February 2nd: Voting will take place online. Only current students, faculty, and staff with a valid college email address will have access to voting.
