Students with Disabilities

The Office for Disability Services (ODS) supports Lamar State College Port Arthur’s (LSCPA) commitment to students possessing diverse goals and backgrounds and provides equal opportunity to participate in the educational programs and activities offered and sponsored by LSCPA by providing services designed for the individual and administered by an experienced staff.  We seek to minimize barriers caused by disability to maximize each student’s opportunity for educational success.

The ODS provides and coordinates services to maximize students’ educational potential and develop their independence. We seek to increase awareness among all members of the college community, so students with disabilities can participate in the LSCPA programs at a level limited only by their abilities, not their disabilities.  As a student with a disability, you are a valued member of the LSCPA community.

To ensure accommodations are provided in a timely manner, students with disabilities should contact the ODS at least two weeks before each semester during which the student plans to enroll.  However, accommodations will be assigned to students at any time during the semester, in accordance with the described procedures. The process takes time, so students who need special assistance should contact the office at the earliest possible time.
