Getting a Laptop
Step 1: Fill out Laptop Loan Program Application Form
- Students may fill out the Laptop Loan Program Application Form online. If a student is unable to use the online form, the Laptop Loan Program Application form may be downloaded and paper forms are also available at IT Services in the Madison Monroe Education Building, Room 208.
- If the student is a minor, the student's parent or legal guardian must also complete the Laptop Loan Program Application form.
- The Laptop Loan Program Application form may be downloaded and completed ahead of time or completed at LSCPA before receiving the laptop.
- A copy of the parent/guardian's valid photo identification (e.g., driver's license or state-issued identification card) must be attached with the application.
- Students may submit parent documentation to IT Services in person (MMED 208) or email electronic copies to laptoploan@lamarpa.edu.
- Applications can be submitted up to 30 days before the first day of class and may take 3-5 business days to review. Laptop computers are limited in quantity and are loaned to eligible students on a first-come, first-serve basis, so apply as early as you can.
Step 2: Wait for Notification Email
- Applications will be reviewed to confirm eligibility.
- After processing, students will be notified if their applications have been approved or denied via their MyLSCPA email.
- If approved, the email will also include information on laptop distribution.
Step 3: Laptop Distribution
- Laptops will be distributed by appointment beginning the first day of class.
- Students will be required to show their LSCPA Student ID card or another form of valid photo identification.
- If the student is a minor:
- The student's parent or legal guardian must complete the Laptop Loan Program Application form, even if the student has already completed it. The Laptop Loan Program Application form may be downloaded and completed ahead of time or completed at LSCPA before receiving the laptop. A copy of the parent/guardian's valid photo identification is required.
- If the parent/guardian has completed the form (including providing a copy of their valid photo identification) prior to the distribution date, the parent is not required to be present.
- The student will be asked to log into the laptop using their LSCPA username and password. This will verify that the laptop is functional at the time of distribution and ensure that the student will be able to log into the laptop when not on the campus network. IT Services will have personnel on site to help with logins and password resets.

- IT Services personnel will inspect the equipment for damage and tampering (e.g., removing or replacing components).
- Missing components will incur a charge.
- Damage to the laptop may incur a charge, which will not be known until vendor evaluation. LSCPA will submit damaged laptops for repair under warranty where applicable. The student is responsible for all repair charges not covered by warranty. LSCPA will notify the student of the charges in a timely manner once informed of repair costs.
- Charges will not exceed the actual cash value of the laptop.
- Return documentation will be signed by both the student and IT Services personnel. A copy will be provided to the student for their records.
- Any charges that have been assessed will result in a hold put on the LSCPA student account and will prevent the student from registering for a future term, receiving an official transcript, or receiving a diploma until paid in full.
