Surgical Tech students experience latest in robotic technology

The Surgical Technology Program at Lamar State College Port Arthur was recently invited to the Robot Round Up at Christus Ochsner St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles, La.

The purpose of the event was to show the public and future employees the new technologies offered at that facility. The LSCPA group piggy-backed a recruitment event at the same time. Christus Ochsner St. Patrick Hospital needs personnel for their ORs. After students went through the hands-on sessions with three different robotic systems, they were invited to tour the hospital and the OR suites at the facility. LSCPA's students were eager and made a great impression on the staff at the facility.

"We crossed state lines and showed there is a great source of healthcare workers located just across the border," Brandon Buckner, Surgical Technology Program Director, said.
