  • Students earn President’s List, Dean’s List designation

    Seventy-eight Lamar State College-Port Arthur students qualified for the 2017 Spring semester President’s List, which recognizes students who earn a perfect 4.0 grade point average while completing at least 12 semester credit hours. Another 75 students qualified for the Deans’ List, which requires an overall grade point average of at least 3.6 for the semester. Read More

  • Reluctant 10-year-old becomes record-setting catcher, coach

    It was a pretty simple request, really, but a 10-year-old Casey Goodman wasn’t having any of it. Goodman, who was recently promoted to associate head coach for Lamar State College Port Arthur’s softball team, had no interest in a request from her youth softball coach, who also happened to be her mother. “She wanted me to be catcher,” Goodman said. “I told her ‘no’.” Her mother, Dorothy, told her she could sit the bench. “So I put on the catcher’s gear,” Casey said.

  • 'Topping Off' celebrates Industrial Technology Center progress

    Lamar State College Port Arthur joined SpawGlass Construction and Johnson Architects to celebrate a Topping Off Ceremony on Wednesday afternoon for the Sheila McCarthy Umphrey Industrial Technology Center, which is scheduled to be completed and open to students for the start of the Fall 2017 semester at LSCPA. The Center will house the Process Technology, Instrumentation Technology, Computer Drafting, and Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning programs. Pictured prior the ceremony are, from left, Sen.
