Meet Your Instructors:

Mr. Ramirez

Mr. Ramirez was raised as a migrant worker until he entered first grade.  He says his parents taught him the importance of God, Family and Country.  From farming, he learned that many people working together could accomplish a hard goal in a short time.

Since 1983, Mr. Ramirez has been an active part of the voice of the Spanish speaking community in Port Arthur.  As the owner of OTRA Hispanic media, he is active in the operation of both the Southeast Texas Hispanic News and in Radio Vida, the local Spanish radio station.

In addition to his public commitment to the Hispanic community, Mr. Ramirez sets aside a good deal of his personal time to help native Spanish speakers acquire the English skills they need to find employment.  He has offered free ESL classes since 2001 and was awarded the Teacher appreciation Award for his efforts in 2012.

Mr. Ramirez has been a Certified Citizenship Teacher for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services since 2001.
