The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Lamar State College Port Arthur (LSCPA) continues to deliver strong support to local entrepreneurs and small businesses. In 2025, Director Dana Espinal was recognized as a top performer within the University of Houston Texas Gulf Coast SBDC Network, excelling in two critical performance categories: jobs retained and other capital secured, such as grants for small business owners.
These results reflect the SBDC's ongoing dedication to driving measurable economic impact through high-quality advising, training, and resource assistance.

SOUTHEAST TEXAS (December 2025) – The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Lamar State College Port Arthur (LSCPA), along with the University of Houston Texas Gulf Coast Small Business Development Center Network, is proud to announce notable results in its 2025 Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), with Dana Espinal, director of the LSCPA SBDC, emerging as one of the top performers in two categories across the network.
In 2025, the SBDC focused on key metrics that measure impact, including total clients advised, new clients advised, jobs created, economic capital creation, and business starts. Among these, Espinal stood out as a top performer in two areas: jobs retained and other capital, such as grants secured for small business owners.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) serve as measurable values that gauge a company's effectiveness in achieving critical business objectives. They are instrumental in providing a clear understanding of whether goals are being met and in evaluating overall performance.
