Teacher Retirement System (TRS) is a traditional defined benefit pension plan that provides formula-based retirement annuities. All TRS-eligible employees are automatically enrolled in TRS on their first day of employment.
Optional Retirement Program (ORP)-eligible employees may elect to participate in ORP as an alternative to TRS.
A supplemental Tax Sheltered Annuity (TSA) Plan is available for eligible Texas State University System employees and retirees, established under the authority of the Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes, Article 6228a-5.
