Faculty Council
Formed in accordance with Texas Senate Bill 37 in the 2025-2026 academic year, the Faculty Council is an advisory body, who offers input to the administration on matters of policy and practice. Half the members of the Faculty Council are elected by their departments, while the remainder of the members are appointed by the President. The Faculty Council provides the faculty with a voice on matters pertinent to teaching and learning.

NOTE: For the initial composition of the 2025-2026 Faculty Council, we chose at random which departments would elect members for a one-year term versus a two-year term. Next year, the two departments who elected council members for a one-year term (CASP and GEDS) will hold a new election to elect members for two-year terms from that point forward. In this way, we ensure that the turnover in the Council is staggered, with all elected members serving two-year terms.
